Welcome to a new addition to the Rangers Culture website, a weekly betting preview for anyone who likes a flutter. It’s difficult to get away from gambling right now, we are in a society where people find it hard to watch a sporting event without having a few bets.
I follow Rangers up and down the country, pre season friendlies around the U.K, across Europe for meaningless winter games vs teams named after energy drinks and I’ll be there home and away when we return to a European competition. I can’t help but feel there is a gap for a weekly betting preview on social media. I am going to try and keep it fun without slagging off players or the team. Enjoy.
To avoid confusion, when I am using the term ‘we’ or ‘our’, I am indeed talking about Rangers.
Our defence has been decimated by injuries since Pedro Caixinha’s arrival and that’s led to David Bates and Myles Beerman starting the last two games at centre half and left back. What’s followed has been surprising, back to back clean sheets in away league games for the first time since February 2016. But that doesn’t tell the whole story.
We are still giving away too many chances to the opposition but they aren’t being converted. This is mainly due to Wes Foderingham pulling of a string of brilliant saves. For that reason it’s difficult to be confident that we’ll keep a clean sheet for the third game in a row. Especially against a side who aren’t in bad form themselves.
Partick Thistle have lost only once in their last 10 games, scoring in 9 of them. They aren’t a side who generally get thumped, so I’m not expecting Rangers to run out easy winners. The Jags haven’t conceded more than 2 goals in any competitive game since being hammered 4-1 by Celtic back in December. In fact, that’s the only league game this season that they have conceded more than 2 goals in.
It’s clear who their danger man is, Kris Doolan. He’s the wrong side of 30 now but he’s still a major threat at this level. Doolan has 12 goals this season and scored the winner for Thistle last game against Motherwell in a 1-0 victory.

We have played Partick Thistle twice this season. The last time was at Firhill back in late November. Joe Dodoo was the hero that day as he scored two late goals in a 2-1 victory. This was after Kris Doolan had opened the scoring for Partick.
We met earlier in the season at Ibrox and defeated them 2-0. First half goals from Niko Kranjcar and Andy Halliday secured victory.
